A special 3 mm "bedliner" is applied to soundproof and insulate the back end of the truck. It was applied in three stages. Didn't much like the choice of colour though - but it's what was available.

The aluminium tubing is cut up for the canopy frame.

The aluminium arrives. This will be used in the construction of the canopy.
We fitted a special "snorkel" to ensure colder and cleaner air is sucked into the engine. Really useful when driving on hot sandy roads.
A two and a half litre turbo charged diesel engine with intercooler should get us to Capetown.

Not much work being done on the vehicle at the moment. Not because I don't want to, but I am waiting for the frame of the aluminium canopy to be welded before I can proceed. I have also ordered some wood which will be used to furnish the inside of the canopy (floor, drawers etc). Anyway, more from me when things are moving forward again.

The frame for the canopy has been welded. A great job done by Bo Holms "Smede og Maskinvaerkstedet) in Silkeborg. As you can see, it fitted the vehicle perfectly.

On thing that is difficult, is building up the vehicle for a trip through countries with no real roads, plus as many different weather conditions as you could imagine - maybe with the only exception of no ice and snow.
Here Karen just checking that the back door is going to be big enough.
